The Dragon has had its first week in the refurbishment process and wow we have ripped out a lot of stuff. Four skips on and the worst of the rubbish is out.

The most important thing in the first week has been to remove all the wall furniture and replace and repair it; ready for it to be covered. Neil our carpenter (assisted by Keith his new young apprentice) has been hard at work as lots of the seats needed extensive renovation as they were quite badly damaged.

The other members of the team; lead by Gary (our very own human recking ball) have been ripping out, stripping wall paper, re wiring, plumbing,  and generally getting the shell ready for its new bar and first fixings.

Mum and I were let loose on the flower beds, resulting in them being dismantled; ready for some new troughs and trellis. A new pick axe was purchased but we let Stewart use it as it was deemed we didn’t have the necessary health and safety training or more importantly any hand to eye coordination.

NB: No alcohol was harmed in the process; all our older individuals found willing homes and the young stock is all safely tucked up in the (recently refurbished) cellar ready and awaiting the reopening.

    This week has seen our plaster board going up and then the plastering commence. It’s amazing what a bit of plaster can do to a place and it really helps make the bar look like it’s getting somewhere now.
